The Afghan School Project begins pen pal program

August 1st, 2007 Leave a comment Go to comments

The Afghan School Project is pleased to announce that we have started a pen pal program that will pair interested students at the Afghan-Canadian Community Center (ACCC) with supporters in Canada and around the world.

Having a pen pal will allow students in Kandahar to receive additional help with their studies and to make new friends. Supporters will have the opportunity to learn more about the issues affecting women and education in Kandahar, learn more about Afghan culture and provide assistance to the hard working students of the ACCC. For those of you who choose to donate to the ACCC, you will also have the opportunity to see how your donation is used to provide valuable education that leads to important job opportunities.

If you are interested in getting involved in our pen pal program, either as a student or as a supporter, please leave a comment on this post or write to [email protected]. We will do our very best to match you with a pen pal who we feel will be a good match, and who holds similar interests.

We’d like to express our thanks to the first two sets of pen pals, and to everyone who has expressed an interest in this program. We hope to match many more pen pals in the days to come!

Hello! My name is Kiran. I am a 17 year old Indian girl who is looking for an opportunity to contribute to the welfare of others. Although I don’t know Pastho or Dari, I am fluent in English and understand Punjabi and Hindi (when it’s spoken). I am extremely interested in participating in this phenomenal program. Please contact me and I look forward to hearing your reply.
