Afghan-Canadian Community Center Celebrates International Women’s Day in Kandahar
International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8th to mark the achievements of women around the world. It is a day to mark the great progress women have made, and also to make renewed commitments to combat gender inequality where it still exists.
At the Afghan-Canadian Community Center (ACCC), a school that grants women the right to education every day, the celebration of International Women’s Day is particularly significant. Staff, students, families, media and honourable guests gathered to celebrate and discuss the role of women in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
This year, many of the speeches highlighted the amazing progress made by Afghan women and touched on broad themes such as the role of women in Islam, the universal human rights of women, and the increasing employment options for women in Afghanistan.
Ehsan, the Director of the ACCC, made a passionate speech about the importance of education as the “backbone of a nation.” He praised his students for their bravery, saying: “I am impressed by the courage women have shown in this remote corner of the world where the female population is still threatened by ultra-conservative cultural attitudes, the poverty and the ongoing war.” He also noted that many women have been rewarded for their persistence and dedication with positions in the Afghan parliament, provincial councils, and other institutions involved in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
Several guests of honour were in attendance, including the Deputy Governor of Kandahar, members of Afghanistan’s parliament, the Director of Women’s Affairs, the Director of Kandahar Women’s Council and a representative from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). The ACCC awarded certificates of achievement and gifts to several of the participants in recognition of their contributions to the ACCC and to the cause of women’s rights in Kandahar.
Many of the ACCC staff and students are shining examples of what women can accomplish. They took this day to celebrate their achievements, to thank those who made it possible and to talk about the next steps for women in Afghanistan.
The participants enjoyed refreshments and received gifts of clothes, dictionaries and teapots courtesy of the Canadian Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) CIMIC Team, Kandahar Innovative Advertisements and the ACCC.

Women’s Internation Day
Womens’s day is an international occasion which is celebrated on March 08 for their economic, political and social achievements. The first International Womens Day (I.W.D.) was celebrated in 1911, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and in increase in radical ideologies.
Since its birth in the socailist movement, International Women Day (I.W.D) has grown to become a global day of recognition across developed and developing countries like ours, Afghanistan. For decades International Women Day (I.W.D) has grown form strength to strength annually. Through the support of the United Nations, an annual International Women Day (I.W.D) conference is held to coordinate international efforts for womens’ rights and participation in social, politcal and economic processes. 1975 was designated as “International Womens Year” by the U.N. Womens organization and goverments around the world have also observed International Women Day (I.W.D) annually by holding events that honour womens advancement and while diligently reminding of the continued vigilance and action required to ensure that women’s equality is gained and maintained in all aspects of life.
International Women Day (I.W.D) is now an official holiday in China, Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam to name a few. The tradition sees men honouring their mothers, wives and colleagues with flowers and small gifts.
The new millenium has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women’s and society’s thoughts about equality and emancipation. Many from a younger generation feel that the battle for womens movement is over, while many feminists know only too well the longevity and ingrained complexity of patriarchy. The unfortunate fact is that women are still not treated equally, not paid equally to that of their male counterparts, women still are not present in equal numbers in bussiness or politics and globally womens’ educators, health and the violence against them is worse in our country. However, great improvements have been made. We do have female astronauts and prime ministers, school girls are welcomes into universities, women can work and have a family, today women have real choices. So, the tone and nature of International Women Day (I.W.D) has, for the past few years, moved from being a reminder about the negatives to a celebration of the positives.
SO MAKE A DIFFERNCE, THINK GLOBALLY AND ACT LOCALLY!!
Best Wishes,
Ali Raza (Afghan)

Hijaab- The covering
• What is Hijaab?
• Why Hijaab?
• Benefits of Hijaab
What is Hijaab?
• The word itself comes from the Arabic word “hajaba” meaning to conceal or hide from view.
• Hijaab is the modest covering of the head and body of Muslim women.
• Clothing is only one facet of hijab. It is also behavior, manner, and speech. Women who wear the hijab do not find it inhibiting, impractical, or interfering.
Why wear hijaab?
“O Prophet, tell your wives and daughters and the believing women to draw their outer garments around them (when they go out or are among men). That is better in order that they may be known (to be Muslims) and not annoyed…” (Qur’an 33:59)
Benefits of Hijaab
• She pleases her Lord and earns blessings from wearing it
• Purifies her heart and mind
• Attains nobility
• Protects her honor
• By covering her beauty, she is evaluated for her intelligence and skills instead of looks and sexuality
• Many women who cover are filled with dignity and self-esteem and are happy to be identified as a Muslim woman.
• Defines her femininity
• Beautifies her inner and outer appearance
• Expresses her independence and she feels liberated.
Best Wishes,
Ali Raza (Afghan)

Respected All:
Today I want to tell you all about the education in Afghanistan,As a result of the Soviet war, and the civil war which occurred shortly afterwards, many schools were destroyed and the education process as a whole in Afghanistan was negatively affected. The destruction of the education infrastructure went to an extreme level when the Taliban conquered and ruled most of Afghanistan.
Except for some religious education, girls and women were forbidden to learn. Even for men, the curriculum was highly dominated by religious studies instead of science, technology, literature, etc. What the Taliban did in terms of education goes against Islam and what the prophet of Islam, Muhammad, preached. Muhammad told his followers in the early days of Islam to “seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave”, and that “the ink of the scholar is more sacred than the blood of the martyr”. Islam requires education for all, both men and women.
Education in Afghanistan has greatly improved since the Taliban were overthrown in late 2001. According to recent estimates from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Education, more than 5.4 million children are enrolled in schools today, nearly 35% of them girls. Even though many arguments have been made criticizing the status and rate of development of the educational system in Afghanistan; and despite efforts by the Taliban to burn and shut down many schools, especially for girls in the South and East, more Afghans now attend school or receive some sort of education than ever in its modern history. According to Afghanistan’s constitution (adopted in January 2004), education is the right of all citizens (both men and women), and up to a certain level, it is free of charge.
A lot more still needs to be done in order for Afghanistan to have what modern nations have for their citizens today. An estimated 11 million Afghans are still illiterate, many schools lack proper facilities, the number of qualified teachers are still low, and a major obstacle that needs to be overcome is a cultural bias that many Afghans have, especially in the conservative areas towards the necessity of educating women.
With Warmest Wishes,
Fatima Haydari

The seven Habits of leadership:
Habit 1 Be Proactive: Change starts from within and highly effective
people make the decision to improve their life through the things
that they can influence rather that by simply reacting to external
force.
Habit 2 Being with the end mind: develop a principle centered
personal mission statement. Extend the mission statement into long
term goals based on personal principle.
Habit 3 put first thing first: spend time doing what fits into your
personal mission, observing the proper balance between productions
and building production capacity.
Habits 4 think win-win: seek agreements and relationship that are
mutually beneficial in cases where a win/win deal can’t be achieved
accept the fact that agreeing to make on deal may be the best
alternative in developing an organization culture and be sure to
reward win/win behavior among employees and avoid inadvertently
rewarding win/lose behavior.
Habits 5 seek first to understand and then to be understood: first
seek to understand the other person and only then try to be
understood and this habit is so important.
Habits 6 Synergize: through trustful communication find ways to
leverage individual difference to create a whole that is greater than
the sum of the parts. Through mutual trust and understanding one
often can solve conflict and find better solution that would have
been through either person own solution.
Habits 7 sharpen the saw: take time out from production to build
production capacity through personal renewal of the physical,
mental, social, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. Maintain a
balance among these dimensions.
Sincerely:
Roqia Hashimi

Culture is a system of building identity !!!
Each living life is attached in culture whether humans or animals. Culture is natural development during birth process {what we call is behavior, that changes from individual to individual broadened when lives in family that family is part of a society (group or community), behavior of the group is culture} and its evolution is based on intelligence reaction to experiences and needs. For example initial stages of humans, behavior were similar to other animals lived in groups. Animals too live in groups (society or community) and their group behavior and practices is their culture. Human intelligence reacted stronger to experiences and needs that widened cultural status.
Culture is process to live in group. Each society has norms to follow by individuals in order to retain society strong and intact.
Culture is a process for identity of living creatures and cultural evolution raises the identity of society, benefit goes to its individuals.
Culture differentiates from group to group (as behavior changes) though major part remains same as human culture to differentiate from other species. This gives different identity.
For society’s culture there is one individual behind who broadens or establishes the cultural status.
Culture developed by beliefs, faith, practices, customs, way to live, art, intelligence, language, food habits, and economy etc; Cultural growth gave identity to the societies that named, Christian or Muslim or Hindu or Jewish or Buddhist etc; have different cultures. So when we come across art, customs etc; we identify what is their culture or which religion they belong. Cultural growth is community growth.
Differences of cultures of two societies when clash leads to war and stronger one overpowers the other to establish own culture that way it broadens its culture. An apparent example we have is western culture spread in most part of the world.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT WATER
Of the total water available on earth’s surface only 2.5% is freshwater. 97.5% is salt water. Less than 1% of this amount is frozen in ice caps or exists as soil moisture. Water scarcity has emerged as a major problem these days. Infact, the world is facing a global freshwater crisis. It is estimated that 110,000 cubic km of precipitation falls on the world’s continents each year. Major portion of the precipitation flows through rivers, some is absorbed by plants or evaporated back into the atmosphere. Around 9,000 cubic km of freshwater is readily accessible for human use.

The first theory is the “Will” hypothesis of persuasion. In this theory, the honesty comes from the active resistance of temptation. This means that we persuasive actions are being compromised by the temptation whether we’re going to tell the whole truth or not, seeing the reward we’re going to get. Most people favored the “will” hypothesis of persuasion theory but in this theory the percentage of success and risk are the same.
Grace theory of honesty:
The second theory is the “Grace” hypothesis of persuasion. In this theory, the honesty comes from the absence of temptation. This means that in spite of the reward we’re going to get, we’re telling the whole truth when persuading people. But this doesn’t mean that it is okay to accept a NO answer. This theory doesn’t support that statement because what we are targeting in our persuasion is to get the trust of people. In this theory, you are not tempted to lie because it links to research in the presence of automatic processes to determine behavior.
Motivation theory of honesty:
Motivation is a decision-making process, through which the individual chooses the desired outcomes and sets in motion the behavior appropriate to them. Or motivation is a desire to achieve a goal, combined with the energy to work towards that goal. Students who are motivated have a desire to undertake their study and complete the requirements of their course. Sometimes a distinction is made between positive and negative motivation. Positive motivation is a response which includes enjoyment and optimism about the tasks that we are involved in. Negative motivation involves undertaking tasks because there will be undesirable outcomes and egg. Failing a subject tasks are not completed. As a result of loss of motivation we may be thinking about withdrawing from a subject, or taking leave from university for a semester, for a year, or ‘forever’. We may experience loss of motivation as if it were a lost object or a lost friend. So we might feel:
• anxious
• confused
• frustrated
• angry
• uncertain
• depressed
Motivation, in the context of addiction, refers to an individual’s wish to change his or her addictive behavior. It also refers to his or her drive to do what is necessary to bring about that change. Motivation is important to overcoming addiction. If the person does not wish to change, or does not have the necessary drive to make changes and overcome obstacles for change, recovery is unlikely.
I defined leadership theory like that, how do you define leadership theory?

Dear All,
Definition of a Team
“A team is a small number of people with balancing skills who are committed to a
common purpose, performance goals, and approach for which they are mutually
accountable.”
Importance of Teamwork
ħ On a more formal basis we are arranged into units to be more effective
ƒÞ Teams are groups of people arranged with complimentary skills
ħ Who are committed to a common purpose
ħ A set of performance goals
ħ Who hold themselves responsible for effective delivery
ħ Teamwork is a key characteristic of successful project
ħ But teamwork does not just happen, it has to be planned, co-ordinated,
managed
Benefits of Teamwork
Although a single person can make a big difference in an organisation, he or she rarely
has the knowledge, experience or skills equal to a team. Research is clear that major
gains on quality and productivity most often result from organisations with a team culture.
Complex problems usually require diverse, in-depth technical knowledge that can be
found only among several subject matter experts. Complexity mandates teams.
Creative ideas, or leaps from conventional wisdom, are usually spawned in the tension of
differences, which can most easily occur in teams.
Process improvement and product innovation are hard work and take a long time. It
would be natural for one person¡¦s energy to drop during the long effort. The synergy
and optimism that come from people working together productively can sustain team
member enthusiasm and support even through difficult times.
When many people work on an organisational problem, more organisation members will
see the need for change and a vision of what is better. Team members
become ¡§sensors¡¨ for how the rest of the organisation will view the proposed change as
well as ambassadors for the proposed change.
The team setting naturally promotes both formal (training events) and informal learning
because of the diverse knowledge and skills present in the group members, which then
are ingested through problem identification and problem solving.
Teams require flexibility in behaviour and outlook from individual team members. Egos
must be checked at the door in favour of passionate commitment to a common goal
preconceived ideas about people and things will ultimately be challenged in teams.
Emotions and ideas that do not support tolerance will be challenged in teams.
Barriers to successful teamwork
ħ Many students are nervous and uncomfortable with teamwork because of:
- Little or no experience of teamwork
- Previous negative experiences
- No knowledge of how to behave
- No knowledge of how to organise a team
- Reluctance to participate
- No understanding of how to benefit
Waiting for your comments and your point of view about Group and Team. Do you work in Group or Team? If yes please write here.
Thanks

Hello all,
Below are structures for combining sentences and reducing choppy sentences and changing to better sentences.
Polishing Your Prose
Combining Sentences:
Combining sentences is a powerful tool to make your writing more concise and more forceful.
When too many sentences in a passage have fewer than 10 words and follow the same basic pattern, prose is choppy. Choppy prose seems less unified and either robot-like or frenzied in tone.
Combining can eliminate this problem.
Choppy: I went to the office supply store. I purchased a computer, a fax machine, I installed the equipment. I am more efficient.
Better: at the office supply store, I purchased a computer, a fax machine, and a laser printer. After installing the equipment in my office. I am more efficient.
There are several ways to combine sentences.
1. Use transition: words and phrases that signal connections between ideas. Common transitions are first, second ,third ,finally, in addition, likewise, for example, hover ever, on the other hand, nevertheless, because ,there fore, before, after, while, and in conclusion.
Choppy: Neil drove the truck to the warehouse. Charlie loaded it whit cement. Phil supervised the work.
Better: first, Neil drove the truck to the warehouse. Than Charlie loaded at with cement, while Phil supervised the work.
2. Rewrite sentences using subordinate clauses. A clause with one of the following words will be subordinate: after, although, though, because, or since.
Better: After Neil drove the truck to the warehouse, Charlie loaded it with coordinating conjunctions, like and, but, or.
3. Join simple sentences together with coordinating conjunctions can also function as transitional words. Be sure to use the comma before the conjunction when combining two independent clauses.
Waiting for your comments for the above choppy and better sentences.
Best regards,
Tamana faizi

HI
DO YOU WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT GRAMMAR
PRE-DETERMINERS
SUCH, WHAT, RATHER, QUITE
These words are normally placed before the indefinite article.
Such and what are often used to express surprise or other emotions:
Examples:
a. What a lovely day!
b. She’s such a lovely woman!
c. What an incredible film!
d. He’s such a fantastic guitarist!
Rather and quite are ‘commenting’ words, referring to the degree of a particular quality. They can express disappointment, pleasure, or other emotions, and are used before a/an + adjective + noun:
Examples:
a. It’s rather a small car. (= I’m a bit disappointed because it’s small)
b. It was quite a nice day.(= I was agreeably surprised.)
c. He’s had quite a bad accident. (= I’m worried)
d. I’ve just met rather a nice man. (= I’m pleased)
THE DISTRIBUTIVES
These words refer to a group of people or things, and to individual members of the group. They show different ways of looking at the individuals within a group, and they express how something is distributed, shared or divided.
EACH, EVERY, EITHER, NEITHER
These distributive words are normally used with singular nouns, and are placed before the noun.
Each, either and neither can be used with plural nouns but must be followed by ‘of’:
Each is a way of seeing the members of a group as individuals:
Each child received a present.
Each of the children received a present.
Every is a way of seeing a group as a series of members:
Every child in the world deserves affection.
It can also express different points in a series, especially with time expressions:
Every third morning John goes jogging.
This magazine is published every other week.
Either and Neither are concerned with distribution between two things – either is positive, neither is negative:
Which chair do you want? Either chair will do.
I can stay at either hotel, they are both good
There are two chairs here. You can take either of them.
Neither chair is any good, they’re both too small.
Which chair do you want? Neither of them – they’re both too small.

Dear All,
Trait means characteristic, quality, feature etc. A leader should be a combination of
strategy and character, but if she/he must be without one, be without strategy. It means
that honesty is the most important trait of leadership.
A research based book, The Leadership Challenge, by Kouzes and Posner’s has put the
Honesty on top of the five leadership traits, rest of the four traits described in that book
are; Forward-Looking, Competent, Inspiring, and Intelligent.
If a leader is not an honest man, he will not have followers and supporters which are
necessary for a leader. Dishonest leaders are selected for the personal interests of some
people and they never have the support of people who are supposed to support him/her.
A leader who is working for interest of few individuals, who have selected him, cannot be
called a strong leader and can be thrown out of power as the people unite against him.
I am defining leadership according to above statements, please write your definition also here.

Razia Hotak

May 4th, 2010 at 3:23 am
Hello Razia Jan your definition was excellent here I am writing my definition please have a look to it.
The beneath are the leadership traits:
o Honest – Display sincerity, integrity, and candor in all your actions. Deceptive
behavior will not inspire trust.
o Competent – Base your actions on reason and moral principles. Do not make
decisions based on childlike emotional desires or feelings.
o Forward-looking – Set goals and have a vision of the future. The vision must
be owned throughout the organization. Effective leaders envision what they want and
how to get it. They habitually pick priorities stemming from their basic values.
o Inspiring – Display confidence in all that you do. By showing endurance in
mental, physical, and spiritual stamina, you will inspire others to reach for new heights.
Take charge when necessary.
o Intelligent – Read, study, and seek challenging assignments.
o Fair-minded – Show fair treatment to all people. Prejudice is the enemy of
justice. Display empathy by being sensitive to the feelings, values, interests, and well-
being of others.
o Broad-minded – Seek out diversity.
o Courageous – Have the perseverance to accomplish a goal, regardless of the
seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Display a confident calmness when under stress.
o Straightforward – Use sound judgment to make good decisions at the right
time.
o Imaginative – Make timely and appropriate changes in your thinking, plans,
and methods. Show creativity by thinking of new and better goals, ideas, and solutions to
problems. Be innovative!
I have defined the leadership theory according to my idea , I am looking for your kind comments reply.
Best Regards,
Shabnam Razayee.

Hello Class Fellows,
You defined Leadership very well; I also like to define it as beneath.
Trait Theory;
Trait theories have since long been used for differentiating between leaders and non
Leaders. Ambition, energy, the desire to lead, honesty, integrity, self confidence,
Intelligence and job relevant knowledge are the traits on which leaders tend to differ
From the non leader, research also shows that people who are high self monitors this is
Who are highly flexible emerged as leaders in group that those who are low self
Monitors.
The trait theory has some limitations, firstly
1) There are no universal traits predict leadership in all situations rather than
Appear to predict leadership in selected situation. Secondly,
2) Trait theory predicts behavior more in weak situations rather than in strong
Situations.
3) The evidence is unclear in separating cause from effect. Finally,
4) The traits do a better job at predicting the appearance of leadership than in
Actually distinguishing between effective and ineffective leaders.
Sincerely
Roqia Hashimi

Hello all,
Do you agree with this statement? Justify and explain your position using your text and
module learning materials as a guide?
As my opinio is concerned toward Contingency Approach, I would like to state firstly that as
Organizational Behaviour is to resolve all the differences and trouble
shoot all the delimas accuring in a work place, so mainly we can say
that Contingency approach could be as Organizational Behaviour.
Mainly Contingency Approach can be applied as, ability to influence
other agenda and delay tactics, communication and business and
operational knowledge.
The finally I would like to say that Contigency Approach can be
Organizational Behaviour.
So this was my opinion how about you all students .
I am waiting for your replies.
Thank you so much

Any one Can answer to afew qestion about leadership. if you can then see the below questions and answer it.
You decided to reorganize the department or work unit that you lead. Tell me how you proceeded with the reorganization?…….
Have you ever been a member of a successful team? If so, describe the role you played on the team and in its success.
Give me an example of a time when you played a leadership role in an event, an activity, a department or work unit, or a project. Describe how you led the efforts. Tell me how people responded to your leadership.
If I were to ask your reporting staff or your peers to comment about your leadership style, your leadership strengths, and your leadership weaknesses, how would they respond? What would this discussion tell me about you as a leader?
Tell me about a time when you created agreement and shared purpose from a situation in which all parties originally differed in opinion, approach, and objectives.
Thanks
Jan
May 16th, 2010 at 4:02 am
Dear Jan,
the beneath are the answers of your questions:
If the reorganization failed due to a problem in the main phase, but not if the problem was in the preparatory phase. You can restart it from the point of failure.
If you stopped the reorganization after the preparatory phase because you wanted to restart it later
In certain circumstances, you can reset the reorganization, which means setting the database back to how it was before the reorganization. We recommend that you only reset the reorganization if you do not want to restart it. SAPDBA only displays the Reset option in the reorganization menu if a reset is possible.

Dear all respected teachers of Afghan Canadian Community Center( ACCC).
Accept my hearty congratulation for holy day of teacher. Let me to write a few sentences for the importance of teacher.
Importance of teacher in Student life
Education is one of the greatest services provided by teachers. It is vital for anything. The role played by teachers becomes a very important component and in fact it can be said that they are in way our nation builders.
For any student, education and character are the basic foundations and it is laid by teachers as well as parents. They tend to instill values, attitudes and behaviors in children right from childhood.
Today with challenging environment, in any school or college, everything primarily depends on the teacher. If students perform well, the onus is on the school and teacher. In case the performance is bad, the blame ultimately falls on the teacher. The important point to be noted is that it is not only the teachers who are to be blamed but also there is equal responsibility on the parents as well as students.
The role of teachers becomes very important as they are the ones who mould students in the right way.
There are various roles played by teachers in understanding students needs. Some of them are learning about students interests, planning and organizing classroom activities, assessing the students performance, understanding the basic needs of students, encouraging them to improve, calling for students-parents meeting and discussing with them about the students performance or discipline, motivating students to do more better, encouraging them to participate in extra curricular activities, etc.
The role of teachers has become very challenging. It is quite essential for teachers to be social, serious, understanding and friendly nature so that students feel comfortable to seek any help without hesitation.
The basic role for any teacher is to create a very interesting classroom for students. Students must feel comfortable with the teacher and at the same time, teacher must encourage students. Students should be taught the right path and knowledge or matter should be conveyed in such a manner that students would find it very easy to understand.
Teachers work in close co-ordination with students to help them in building up their future. They mould the students to bring out their skills or improvise them, teaching good habits/attitudes and helping them to become good citizens of the nation.
There are many students who feel shy or have some personality problems. It becomes quite important for teachers to attend to these students personally and encourage them to overcome this shyness or personality disorders.
A good teacher in fact becomes a role model for students. Students tend to follow their teacher in almost every way like manners, style etc. Students tend to get affected by the teacher’s affection as well as love for them. So the teacher should have the professional competence as well as good moral background in order to impart these values to students.
With the changing environment and challenging careers, teachers are helping students to manage their careers as well as create solid foundation for them in different fields. Students are very busy making up their own decisions and teacher tends to become a sort of guide on their side.
Today in this modern age, expectations as well as demands are more from parents. They expect their children to do well in every field. This tends to create a major impact on students as well as teachers. The role of teachers becomes very challenging.
With science advancing, computers and internet have been growing at tremendous pace. They are taking over from teachers.
Teacher, one of the most important social institutions, plays an important role in formation, development, and progress of a society. Earlier teacher was considered as a spiritual father and a guide. He was given respect by the students as well as by the society
Role of teacher in Society
The role of a teacher in society is both significant and valuable. It has far-reaching influence on the society he lives in and no other personality can have an influence more profound than that of a teacher. Students are deeply affected by the teacher’s love and affection, his character, his competence, and his moral commitment. A popular teacher becomes a model for his students. The students try to follow their teacher in his manners, costumes, etiquette, style of conversation and his get up. He is their ideal.
He can lead them anywhere. During their early education, the students tend to determine their aims in life and their future plans, in consultation with their teachers. Therefore, a good and visionary teacher can play a prominent role in making the future of his students while as a corrupt teacher can only harm his students much more seriously than a class of corrupt and perverted judiciary, army, police, bureaucracy, politicians or technocrats. A corrupt and incompetent teacher in not only a bad individual, but also an embodiment of a corrupt and incompetent generation, A nation with corrupt teachers is a nation at risk; every coming day announces the advent of its approaching destruction.
The importance of a teacher as an architect of our future generations demands that only the best and the most intelligent and competent members of our intelligentsia be allowed to qualify for this noble profession. It is unfortunate to find that generally the worst and the most incapable people of the society find their way into this profession. Anyone who fails to find an opening in any other walk of life gets into this profession and recklessly plays with the destiny of the nation. An important reason for this is understood to be the poor salaries of our primary and secondary teachers which are no better than that of clerks. A large number of our teachers are, therefore, frustrated and disinterested.
They have to go for part-time jobs to meet their basic needs. Again, the teaching profession also does not enjoy due respect in the society. The primary and secondary teachers are particularly at a disadvantage. Their status is lower than that of doctors, engineers, advocates, and civil servants; even lower than that of semi literate and illiterate traders. It would therefore require great commitment for an intelligent individual, however fond of education and training he may be, to forsake the career of a doctor or engineer in favor of teaching. Therefore, while selecting good teachers, it must be borne in mind that better opportunities, prospects and perks are offered to the teachers.
When we speak of good teachers it means that a teacher must be a model of faith and piety and should have a fairly good knowledge. A teacher should consider it his duty to educate and train his students and should feel responsible for it. He should feel that his students have been entrusted to him and he should avoid any breach of the trust the society has reposed in him. He should be a sociable person with his roots in the society. People should take him as their well-wisher and a sincere friend who cares for their children. It should be ascertained at all cost that a candidate for this profession has a natural acumen and aptitude for teaching.
He should actively participate in the social activities in a positive way. He should know the art of teaching with a deep insight into child psychology. He should always deal with the students in a just manner. He should not lose his self-control on mistakes his students may commit, and instead he should respect their feelings and ego, and should try to understand and resolve their difficulties with grace while keeping his cool. He should be able to smile in the face of bitter criticism on his opinions, and should not feel ashamed or humiliated to accept his mistakes wholeheartedly.
He should be proud of his culture, his national dress and his national language. He should be a missionary, a mentor, a reformer and a guide besides being a dedicated tutor. In other words, he should be a perfect teacher and a perfect educationist.
While highlighting the role of a teacher in the society, it is imperative to involve the role of parents, too, in the process of character building of the students. In the past, parents and teachers both used to make the best of their efforts to provide an atmosphere to their children congenial to the development of higher virtues and morals. But the gross social change over the last fifty years, large scale urbanization, ruthless competition for financial gains, and heavy preoccupation in everyday life deplete all time and energy from the parents, leaving behind little time or energy for them to monitor their children.
Whatever time they have at their disposal is consumed by newspapers, television and other recreations. As a result, the younger generation hardly gets any opportunity to share ideas with their elders or to enter into a meaningful discussion. On the other hand, this idea is gaining ground among us that education is not meant to build up better human beings, but only to get better jobs. Consequently, the students’ minds are obsessed with better jobs and dreams for higher social status. It is, therefore, duty of the parents, too, to take active interest in the day-to-day progress of their children both in and outside the institution and apprise them of the real meaning of education
Why God Made Teachers
When God created teachers,
He gave us special friends
to help us understand His world
and truly comprehend
the beauty and the wonder
of everything we see,
and become a better person
with each discovery.
When God created teachers,
He gave us special guides
to show us ways in which to grow
so we can all decide
How to live and how to do
what’s right instead of wrong,
to lead us so that we can lead
and learn how to be strong.
Why God created teachers,
In His wisdom and His grace,
was to help us learn to make our world
a better, wiser place.
God understood our thirst for
knowledge, and our need to be led
by someone wiser;
He needed a heart of compassion,
of encouragement, and patience;
someone who would accept
the challenge regardless of the
opposition;
someone who could see potential
and believe in the best in others . . .
So He made Teachers

The Resolution Adopted
at the Conclusion of the National Consultative Peace Jirga
June 2- 4, 2010
Loya Jirga Tent, Kabul
The National Consultative Peace Jirga (NCPJ) participated by 1,600 delegates representing the suffering nation of Afghanistan from all walks of life including from both Houses of the Parliament, Provincial Councils, religious scholars, tribal leaders, civil society organizations, Afghan refugees residing in Iran and Pakistan (Invitees had been divided into 13 categories) was held for consultation on seeking ways out for the insecurity and for a lasting peace in the country. Professor Burhanuddin Rabani was selected to chair the Jirga.
Over the past three days, the delegates divided within various smaller working sessions debated proposals and details of each items of agenda and then took the issues to the general session and hereby agreed on the following:
- Recognizing our religious and national obligations and the need for peace as a vital and righteous demand of every Afghan citizen, we, the participants of the NCPJ fully support President Hamid Karzai’s commitment and initiative to consult the nation to reach through peaceful means to a lasting peace and end to the conflict and bloodshed.
- We recognize and thank the Muslim people of Afghanistan for the resilience, tolerance, patience and sacrifices they have made for a sustainable peace and public prosperity.
- The People of Afghanistan highly value the support by the international community and the United States in particular and for their help to rebuild our state institutions and infrastructure and call for their continued effective and institutional support and assistance.
- We express our gratitude for the sincere efforts by the Muslim countries especially by Saudi King (the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques) and Republic of Turkey to help ensure peace in our war stricken country and want that the efforts continue, speed up and expand.
- We the participants of the NCPJ have taken the following decisions and call on the government of Afghanistan and the parties in conflict to take all sincere, immediate and practical measures for its implementation:
Understanding, Negotiation and Agreement for Sustainable Peace
1. We, the participants of the NCPJ demand from all the parties engaged in conflict to act and comply by the teachings of Islam and respect the aspiration of the people of Afghanistan for lasting peace and ending war and fratricide through understanding and negotiations. The peace and reconciliation initiative shall be for and among Afghans only and does not include in anyway foreign extremist elements and international terrorist networks.
2. The government should develop a comprehensive program to follow up the peace process based on decisions by the NCPJ and change it into a national and standing strategy.
3. No peace efforts should bring to question the achievements made so far and its legal values and should not lead to a new crisis in the country.
4. For a sustainable peace to be ensured, strong and sincere commitments by all the parties concerned is a must. We, the participants seriously request that the aspiration of the people and of the Jirga members and their decisions be respected and put to practice, any action otherwise would be a major harm to the traditional value of the Jirga.
5. We call on all the parties involved to avoid setting such conditions that can make it impossible for the understanding and negotiations to start, but rather express their goodwill by taking constructive and flexible approaches for the dialogue to begin.
6. Avoiding any issues that can inflame ethnical, regional, linguistic, party, religious and political sensitivities and can strain the national unity must be placed as top working priorities for all parties concerned.
7. Providing for investment that can lead to economic, human resources and infrastructure development aimed at creating employment, poverty reduction and building capacity for Islamic and general education should be placed as top government programs.
Framework for Talks with the Disaffected
8. We call upon the government of Afghanistan and the international troops stationed in the country:
- as a gesture of a goodwill, to take immediate and solid action in freeing from various prisons those detained based on inaccurate information or unsubstantiated allegations;
- The government in agreement with the international community should take serious action in getting the names of those in opposition removed from the consolidated blacklist;
- The government and the international forces should guarantee security and safety for those who join the peace process and should provide for a safe return of those in armed opposition;
- International and Afghan forces are strongly requested to seriously avoid any unnecessary arrests and arbitrary searches of houses as well as aerial bombardment of residential areas that lead to civilian casualties;
- The government should take all required measures to be able to lead military operations and coordination among international forces operating in Afghanistan;
- The disaffected in armed opposition should renounce violence and all other activities that result in killing our people and destroying the infrastructure and should dissociate themselves from Alqaeda and other terrorist groups;
- The international community is suggested to expedite the process of equipping, training and strengthening Afghan national security forces, so they can get the capability in taking responsibility to provide security for their own country and people;
- We want and urge for a long-term international commitment, so Afghanistan does not become again a playground for regional conflicts, and that external interferences can be averted and thus space for stronger regional cooperation can be provided;
- We call on the international community to support the peace process led by the government of Afghanistan;
- The government with public support should take every necessary step to deliver good governance, make sure appointments are made on the basis of merits, and fight administrative and moral corruption as well as illegal property possession at national and provincial level. This is the key in boosting public confidence to the government and for a successful peace process;
- People of Afghanistan demand a just peace which can guarantee the rights of its all citizens including women and children. For the purpose of social justice, the Jirga urges that laws be applied equally on all citizens of the country;
9. we the participants of the Jirga call on scholars and clerics in mosques and the mass media including audio visual and print to fulfill their duties in promoting peace and preaching against violence;
10. We, the participants of the Jirga call upon our Muslim nation to join hands with the Government to bring an end to the current insecurity and instability and help make the process a success. The Government with cooperation from the people should take all required measures to ensure security and prevent destructive terrorist acts.
Developing Mechanism for Negotiation with the Disaffected
11. A high Peace Council or Commission should be created to follow up on the recommendations made by the Jirga and the Peace Process. The Commission would create by the passage of time its local offices at district and provincial levels and would be represented by different people including our patriotic brothers and sisters, religious scholars, tribal elders, a representative from each House of the parliament, and a person to represent the militants who have given up violence. The Commission shall form a special committee to handle the issues related to the release and return to normal life of the prisoners.
12. We, the participants of the Jirga commit ourselves to act as messengers of peace and take the message of the Jirga to our communities and our people in our areas and to cooperate with the local authorities, tribal elders, youth and the women for the objective of ensuring peace.
13. To win the international community’s support to the Jirga decisions, the Government of Afghanistan should include the Resolution in the agenda for the Kabul Conference.
14. The Government is responsible to continuously and transparently communicate to public any progress achieved in the peace process through a mechanism to be established.
15. The recommendations by the 28 Committees of the Jirga are attached to this resolution to be used in developing the Action Plan and Peace Strategy.
16. In conclusion, the Peace Jirga on behalf of the Muslim nation of Afghanistan strongly denounce the latest brutal raid by Israeli forces on a flotilla of humanitarian aid in the international waters aimed at breaking the blockade in Gaza for the oppressed Palestinians and express its heartfelt condolences and deep sympathies to the families of the victims and to the wounded. We call on the United Nations and the international community to end the oppressing blockade of Gaza.

Hello everyone;
Knowing the Top Ten Syllable Rules can help improve reading, pronunciation, and spelling.
1. Every syllable has only one vowel sound. Some syllables have just one vowel; others have two. But even when there are two vowels, there can be only one vowel sound in each syllable, so the two vowels say one sound.
For example, out-side.
2. When the vowel’s at the end of a syllable, it has a long sound. Reading specialists call the Vowel-Consonant-Vowel (VCV) pattern an open syllable.
For example, be-low.
3. When the vowel is not at the end of a syllable, it has a short sound. Reading specialists call the Consonant-Vowel-Consonant (CVC) pattern a closed syllable.
For example, bas-ket.
4. Divide syllables between doubled consonants, unless the doubled consonant is part of a syllable that is a base word.
For example, din-ner and tell-er.
5. Usually keep vowel teams together in the same syllable.
For example, boat-ing.
6. Keep the silent final “e” and the vowel before in the same syllable. The silent final “e” makes the vowel before a long sound if there is only one consonant in between the vowel and the “e”.
For example, basement.
7. Keep the “r”-control vowels (ar, er, ir, or, and ur) in the same syllable.
For example, or-al-ly.
8. Keep the consonant-”le” sounds (ble, cle, dle, fle, gle, and ple) in the same syllable. These syllables have the schwa sound between the consonant and the “le”. The schwa sound sounds like a nasal short u.
For example, cra-dle.
9. All words have one syllable that has a primary accent. The vowel in the accented syllable receives the stress. Words may also have secondary accents. The primary accent is usually found on the vowel in the root, not the prefix or suffix. Also, the syllable before a double consonant is usually accented.
For example, slów-ly and swím-ming.
10. Unaccented vowel sounds frequently have the schwa sound, especially when there is only one letter in the syllable. All vowels can have the schwa sound.
For example, a-boút.
syllable rules, syllabication, syllable division, pronunciation, word parts, dividing words, accents, schwa, primary accents, inflections, morphemes, spelling rules.
The Top Ten Syllable Rules will help students improve reading, pronunciation, and spelling accuracy. Applying these syllabication rules will also help readers identify prefixes, roots, and affixes, which improves word identification.

Creating of agenda and identify purpose for that
Meeting can have six at least six purposes
1. to share information
2. to brainstorm ideas
3. to evaluate ideas
4. to make decision
5. to create a document
6. to motivate members
When meeting combine two or more purposes, it’s useful to make the purpose explect for
Example, in the meeting of a university student’s government or a company’s board of
Directors, some items are presented for information discussion is possible, but the group
Will not be asked to make decision. Other items are presented for action; the group will
Be asked to vote. A business meeting might specify that the first half hour will allotted
For Brainstorming, with the second half hour devoted to evolution
Most companies recognize four different decision making processes:
• Authoritative (the leader makes the decision alone)
• Consultative (the leader hears group comments but then makes the decision alone)
• Voting (the majority wins)
• Consensual (discussing continue until everyone can “buy into” the decision)
Telling participants how input will be used clarifies expectation and focus the conversation.
Once you are identified your purposes, think about how you can make them happen. Usually partecpants need to receive and read materials before the meeting. Perhaps people should bring drafts to the meetings so that creating a document can go more quickly.
For team meetings called on short notice, the first item of business is to create an agenda. This kind of agenda can be informal, simply listing the topics or goals.
For meetings with more lead times, distribute an agenda several days before the meeting.(agenda is Latin for “to be don.”) if possible. Give participants chance to comment, and revise the agenda in response to those comments. a good agenda answers five questions:
• where and when: time and place of the meeting
• what: agenda items
• why: each items flagged for purpose, information, discussion or decision
• who: participants and individuals sponsoring or introducing each items
• how: meeting duration and time allotted for each item
Many groups deal first with routine items on which agreement will be easy. if there is a long list of routine items, save them until the end or, in a parliamentary meeting, dispense with them in an omnibus motion. Allows a group to approve many items tighter rather than voting on each separately, a single omnibus motion might cover multiple changes to operational guidelines.
Schedule controversial items early in the meeting, when people’s energy levels are high and to allow enough time for full discussion, giving a controversial item only half an hour at the end of the meeting leads people to suspect that the leaders are trying to multiple late them.
the best meeting encourage participation, creativity, and fun. Networking and socializing are vital to participants’ perception of the value of the meeting. For meeting that will last longer than an hour conference or training sessions, for example plan
• short breaks every two hours
• longer breaks twice a day so participants can chat informally with each other and
• social functions
Finely, you may want to leave five minutes at the end of the meetings to evaluate it. What wet well? What could be better? What do you want to change next time?
Sample meeting agenda
Staff meeting
Date: August 3, 2010
Starting time: 3:ooPM
End time: 4:ooPM
Value of the meeting: administration of ACCC
Discussion points:
1. Attendance (the director ask the teachers to come on time)
2. lesson plan ( the director tell the teachers to have their lessons plan with their salves)
3. co-ordination lack of co-ordination.
4. discussing new curriculum.
